One Scrapbook Sketch "Right-Sized" for Three Different Album Formats!

June's Monthly Sketch Pack is here with another scrapbook layout idea that's been right-sized for three different album formats — 12" x 12", 8" x 8" and the Scrap Journal (6.75" x 10")!

Each month, I start with one overall layout idea and adapt it to work beautifully in all three sizes. Rather than simply converting the measurements mathematically, I adjust the proportions and placement of the design elements so each sketch feels balanced on the page size it was created for.

That means you can choose the album size you prefer, grab the corresponding sketch and start creating — no math or guesswork required!

This month's sketch features large circles as the main design element, along with a combination of larger and smaller photo spaces. It's a really fun structure to play with because those big circles add plenty of pattern and interest without requiring a complicated layout.

And as you'll see in the three finished versions, changing the papers and embellishments gives the exact same basic design three VERY different looks!

If you'd like to see how the layouts come together, watch the video below where I walk you through the June Monthly Sketch Pack and create layouts in all three album sizes.

Now let's take a closer look at each finished layout!

    June 12" x 12" Sketch Pack Layout

For my 12" x 12" version, I went all-in on summer with bright patterned papers filled with swimsuits, watermelon, flip-flops and other poolside images from CM's Making a Splash bundle. The large circle on the left page gives that busy patterned paper plenty of room to shine, while the white circle on the opposite side - which is the negative or leftover shape from cutting the large circle! - keeps the overall layout from becoming overwhelming.

There's room for a nice mix of photo sizes here, too — larger photos for the moments you really want to feature and several smaller spaces for those extra pictures that help tell the whole story. I also included a journaling box and embellishments in two of the smaller spaces, which is always a good reminder that every spot on a sketch doesn't have to hold a photo!

    June 8" x 8" Sketch Pack Layout

Using the same layout idea, but right-sizing it for 8" x 8", this version has a completely different personality, even though you can still clearly see the same basic sketch underneath it.

Here I used Relax Into Summer - a fun CM collection with a bit of a Euro-vacation feel - I love the fruit, the red scooter, the gingham and those cute little wine glasses! The large circles work beautifully on the smaller pages, giving me a generous area for patterned paper without having to add lots of little pieces.

The photo arrangement has been adapted to make better use of the smaller square format, but the relationship between the circle, the larger focal photo and the smaller supporting photos remains the same.

June Scrap Journal / 6.75" x 10" Sketch Pack Layout

And finally, there's the 6.75" x 10" Scrap Journal version — and this one really demonstrates why adapting the proportions of a sketch matters!

Because Scrap Journal pages are taller and narrower, the circles and photo spaces have to work very differently than they do on a square page. But the same visual ingredients are still there: large curved areas of patterned paper and negative/white space, a mixture of larger and smaller photo spaces and a strong design that carries across the two-page spread.

The bright yellow, turquoise and rainbow-striped papers from the same Making a Splash collection give this version yet another completely different look. I love seeing how one sketch can go from poolside fun to European summer simply by changing the products!
