June 1-2-3+ Sketch and Layout

June's 1-2-3+ Sketch and Layout is another reminder that you don't need a complicated design—or a huge pile of supplies—to create an interesting two-page scrapbook layout!

If you're new to my 1-2-3+ layouts, each one uses just one piece of double-sided designer paper, two base pages of your choice and three cuts to create a quick two-page scrapbook layout. If you want to level it up, the + Cutting Guide gives you the option of adding an additional piece of paper or cardstock to create photo mats, decorative borders and other details.

Both versions are easy and versatile, so you can decide how simple—or how embellished—you want your layout to be depending on your time, energy and the supplies you're working with.

For my June layout, I worked with a warm neutral base and a combination of teal, brown and soft beige patterned papers. I love how the darker teal sections create strong blocks across the two pages, while the wood tones and geometric details add plenty of interest without making the layout feel too busy.

This month's sketch also gives you lots of flexibility for your photos. There are spaces for a mix of horizontal and vertical photos in several different sizes, along with a dedicated journaling area. And, as always, you can rotate, flip or adapt the sketch to make it work for the photos you actually have.
