Sketch Magic - 3 Scrapbook Layouts from 1 Sketch!
Phew! I squeaked the April Sketch Pack in just before the month ended!
It features the same versatility I’ve been sharing with you over the last few months - each 123SWN Sketch Pack features a scrapbook layout idea that is adapted to work for the three different album page sizes that Creative Memories offers - 12" x 12", 8" x 8" and the Scrap Journal (6.75" x 10"). And you'll be excited to make all three layouts since no math is required!
Instead of simply converting measurements, each sketch in this pack was created by adapting the proportions, not just the numbers. That means the overall design, balance, and visual flow stays the same! Simply choose the sketch that matches your album size and start creating. No math or guesswork - just easy, fast & fun scrapbooking!
All three sketches this month feature banner strips and large blocks of pattered paper giving you dedicated spaces for up to TEN photos!
If you'd like to see the layouts come together, watch the video below where I walk you through the April Monthly Sketch Pack handout and show you how to assemble all three album formats.
Now let's take a closer look at each finished layout!
April 12" x 12" Sketch Pack Layout
The April 12" x 12" Sketch Pack layout was created using the Lakeside Memories collection from Creative Memories with two pieces of Beige Cardstock as the base pages. There is space for four standard vertical and photos plus up to SIX 3 x 3 photos on the banner strips! Those 3x3 spots could also be homes for a block of decorative paper, a title or embellishments cluster or even a journal spot - so versatile!
April's sketch also calls for trimmed borders across the top of the blocks and a slim strip of paper between the banners and blocks, but I cut some .5" wavy strips from Songbird Blue Cardstock with the Ripple CCS Border Cutting Tool and used them for both the transition strips between the banners and blocks and the top borders. ***In retrospect I wish I would I have cut them from a tonal blue paper, but the Songbird Blue still works well!
April 8" x 8" Sketch Pack Layout
Once again I used CM's beautiful Natural Beginnings collection for the April 8" x 8" Sketch Pack layout on some White Cardstock base pages. And I still love the fact that I can really stretch my patterned paper to cut the banners and blocks from.
We've got room for 6 photos here - 2 larger and four smaller, but the proportions of the layout still feel similar to the 12" x 12" version. The top border was created using a .75" strip and adding the clear leaf borders from the Natural Beginnings sticker pack on top.
April Scrap Journal/6.76" x 10" Sketch Pack Layout
The Scrap Journal size layout remains the most stubborn to adapt since the pages are compressed widthwise and expanded height wise. But as you can see, the overall mood and feel stay the same once it is put together with the banners along the bottom and the larger block above them.
I used the new Delight Scrap collection which is sized for the Scrap Journal and had fun adding the coordinating Washi Tape to a piece of the Songbird Blue Cardstock to create the top border.
